In this step by step instruction, we take WIRE1x_mobile 1.0 running on Windows Mobile 6 Professional
Note that we assume you have installed your wireless interface card correctly and successfully.
If you have any problem when installing hardware, please consult your hardware manufacturer or system
administrator. In addition, you also need to have enough information about the wireless network you want
to connect to, such as which type of authentication method (EAP-MD5, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, or
EAP-PEAP, etc.) should be used, whether encryption is enabled in your network, what IP configuration
you should use, and most importantly, the credential you should use in your network (such as username,
password, or even certificate).
If you find that you do not have any required information, please consult your network service provider.
If you are not sure about who you should ask, send us an email. We welcome everyone to use this web
page as a template to create your own instruction page to assist your users to execute WIRE1x.
(System administrator: you may want to create a profile for your users so they can simply import your
profile and make few changes.)
How to Configure
- Go to WIRE1x website and download the desired version.

Take WIRE1x_mobile 1.0 as an example.

- Copy the setup file you have downloaded to your mobile device. Then execute it to install.

- If you are going to use EAP-TLS,
you must also have your client certificate (with your private
key inside) in P12 or PFX format.
Rename the file name to "per.pfx and put it to "WIRE1x_mobile_install" directory.
Double click your certificate and Windows will guide you how to import it.

- If you are going to use EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, or EAP-PEAP,
and the CA that signed the server certificate is not trusted yet,
you have to import the CA certificate into the "Trusted
Root CA" container.
Double click your certificate and Windows will guide you how to import it.

- Now, go back to the "Programs" and double click "WIRE1x_mobile"

- WIRE1x will choose a wireless interface automatically.
You also can select the interface by yourself.


- Click on "Scan" to view available wireless networks.

- Select one network and then click "Setting"

- Choose encryption (WEP, WPA-TKIP, WPA2-CCMP).
Click on "Setting" to configure authentication methods (EAP-MD5, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, EAP-PEAP, etc.).

- Enable any authentication method you want to use and provide your credential.



- Click "Save" to finish configuration.

- Select one network and then click "Connect"

- If the "AUTHENTICATED" message appears, congratulations.
If the message appeared is "HELD" or stay in "AUTHENTICATING" for more than one minute,
there may be something wrong. You may want to try one more time.

Click "Disconnect" to disconnect.

- Please wait for about half a minute.
You will notice that you receive new IP configuration from your DHCP server.

- When you click "ok" button, you can click "Yes" to close WIRE1x_mobile, or click "No" to minimize WIRE1x_mobile
